Dr. Tim Stowe is Superintendent of Torrance Unified School District, where he leads one of California’s largest K–12 systems with a focus on strategic innovation, operational excellence, and community engagement. With over 30 years of experience across educational leadership roles, Dr. Stowe brings a systems-level approach to improving student outcomes, driving fiscal responsibility, and fostering organizational agility. Since becoming Superintendent in 2020, he has led the district through the COVID-19 crisis, restructured central administration for greater impact, and launched high-profile initiatives including a Spanish Dual Immersion Program, Early College partnerships, and an Entrepreneurship Academy for students. He also built TUSD’s Communications Department, developed a Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council, and facilitated leadership pipelines through Aspiring Principal programs. Dr. Stowe manages a $340M annual budget and has overseen over $550M in capital bond projects. A recognized thought leader, he speaks nationally on leadership, innovation, finance, and digital engagement. He also serves as a Google GSV Education Innovation Fellow and co-chair of the California School Funding Coalition. In addition to his district leadership, he has taught in USC and UC Irvine’s schools of education and serves on multiple advisory boards. Dr. Stowe holds an Ed.D. from the University of Southern California.
