Patrick Bizeau is Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Swiss Medical Network, one of Switzerland’s largest private healthcare providers, operating 22 hospitals and numerous medical centers nationwide. With extensive experience in healthcare IT and digital transformation, Patrick leads strategic initiatives to modernize technology infrastructures, implement innovative healthcare solutions, and enhance cybersecurity and data protection. Previously, as CIO at Spital Wallis, he successfully led large-scale digital transformation projects, achieving HIMSS EMRAM Level 5+, improving operational efficiency, and implementing advanced healthcare IT standards. Patrick is actively involved in the healthcare IT community, serving as a member of the HIMSS Cybersecurity, Privacy & Security Committee, and regularly contributes to global discussions on healthcare digitalization and cybersecurity best practices. Holding a Master’s degree in Communication Systems from EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), he combines deep technical expertise with strategic vision. Passionate about leveraging technology to drive quality patient care, he is committed to advancing digital innovation in healthcare. He learned to fly helicopters in the breathtaking landscapes of Hawaii and holds an FAA and EASA Commercial Pilot License for helicopters. Additionally, as part of his service in the Swiss Military, he held a staff position in the organizing committee of the renowned high-altitude ski mountaineering race, “Patrouille des Glaciers”. Fun Fact: Patrick is the official “owner” of a registered air navigation obstacle—a 160-meter-long suspension bridge in the heart of the Swiss Alps, which he constructed together with two colleagues.
