Neil Neufeld, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Misfits Market. From line cook to CSCO, Neil has worked in nearly all aspects of the food and beverage industry throughout his career. Serving as Director of Operations for eatZi’s Market & Bakery, he was responsible for managing and controlling costs, generating financial results, and increasing cash flow in all four high-volume units. As Director of Food Service for Central Market, HEB’s gourmet grocery concept in Austin, Texas, Neil designed and managed a $5M facility remodel, created a leadership mentoring program for the company’s flagship unit, and implemented a food-tasting program, resulting in a significant increase in food quality. He went on to serve as SVP of Operations for Balducci’s, a multi-unit specialty market with $135M in annual revenues, where he successfully reduced store labor by creating and implementing an innovative total-store labor system. As Chief Operating Officer for Marvelous Market, Neil’s charge was developing franchise operations, building and systematizing their franchise model to grow from 5 to 100 locations. Neil’s next post was Vice President at VucurevichSimons Advisory Group, the industry-leading food service consulting and development firm, where he leveraged his wealth of experience managing nearly all aspects of both restaurant and food retail operations to help everything from restaurants to grocery stores to food trucks launch and optimize their businesses. Using sales and marketing, financial models, and implementing operational systems, he helped many business owners realize greater profits. Revolution Foods provides healthy school and community meals for kids, adults, and seniors across the country. As EVP of Operations, Neil launched nationwide from a west coast company and scaled the business from $20M to $160M. He reduced product and labor costs and increased gross margin by 10% through systematizing, optimizing, and automating production operations. Additionally, he managed the full distribution fleet, including 175 company-leased vehicles, by outsourcing remote and long-haul vehicles in 10 domestic markets. He optimized the market service area from a 3-hour to an 11-hour radius by designing and deploying a customized hub-and-spoke model for launching small markets. He also garnered a 90% annual renewal rate by integrating internal and external KPI reports and developing an account management team of 35 regional partnership managers and directors. In his current role as Chief of Supply Chain at Misfits Market/Imperfect Foods, a mission-based online grocery company aiming to reduce food waste, Neil has scaled the business from $25M to $500M+, expanded facilities from 4 to 50, and rebranded the company from Imperfect Produce to Imperfect Foods. He championed the buildout of 45 Fulfillment and one Distribution Center, including overseeing all real estate negotiations and formal launch and built a continuous improvement (CI) department. He created an in-house, last-mile department of 600+ fleet and middle mile of 40 fleet and inbound logistics system.
